Strategic Tip #1: 'Quantity has a quality all its own' by Jason Dawson

In the new Lord of the Rings tradable miniatures game, the obvious temptation is to track down the most bad a** versions of your favorite heroes and use them to crush your opponent. While heroes are valuable, even necessary, you should not forget about minions. Since the main victory condition depends upon who takes 50% casualties first, having more models on the table than your opponent gives you the advantage. The best way to outnumber your opponent is by having lots and lots of minions. Additionally, your army should consist of an odd number of models, since this maximizes the number of models you can lose be reaching 50% losses.

When choosing your heroes and minions look for abilities that compliment each other. Most of the abilities have either other abilities or specific models that they work especially well with. Finding such combinations is the key to building an efficient fighting force.

All of the numbers are important. It may initially seem that attacks and toughness are the two most important stats on a model. However, the movement and action points of your army WILL decide battle. Fast moving troops will be able to maneuver into advantageous positions giving you valuable flanking attacks. Action points power your valuable abilities as well as converting glancing hits. Also, remember you can spend an action point when moving to get that extra space of movement. Many opponents will not see that coming.
